Tammy Faye Baker/Thankful
Tammy Faye Baker died after a long battle with cancer. I feel so bad for her and her family. She was a great lady. I've always known who she was, but I didn't really get to "know her" till I saw Celebrity Surreal Life on VH1. She was among the houseguests such as Vanilla Ice, Ron Jeremy, Erik Estrada and some other people. And she was never judgemental of any of those people. She was a good person and everybody loved her on that show.
*RIP Tammy Faye*
I was reading this one girl's blog and I feel so bad at how she can never catch a break in life. It seems that there's always some type of catastrophe happening to her and her family. I feel bad for her. At the same time, it makes me appreciate the quiet life that I lead with my husband and that I don't have to worry about him cheating or anything. Law Enforcement has one of the highest rates of divorce, but I have to have faith that we're not going to be one of those statistics. Jose told me the other day that if we ever divorce, he wants me to continue to pursue my education...so he will pay for all of it still. I thought that was very sweet but we're NOT getting a divorce.
Also, it seems that everyone around us is getting pregnant or already have kids. Well, it doesn't seem like it, it IS like that. I know I don't want kids till I get after I get my degree. That should be about 34 or so. That's not too bad, considering people are still having kids at 40. I've been on the pill for years now, sometimes I do wonder if I'm still fertile, though.
Ok, that's it for now. Have a great weekend, everyone!!

Child Abuse Stories...A Lot Lately
What is up with all these news stories lately that involve child abuse? I know there are always these type of stories, but so far, I have read about 3 this week. One happening right here in Anaheim. On Monday, a tourist teen girl that was traveling with her bf's family were visiting Disneyland. They were having lunch at Denny's. She excused herself to go to the bathroom, gave birth to a baby girl and put her in a trash can. She then proceeded to go outside. Her bf's mom then got up to use the bathroom too and saw blood on the counter and on the floor and heard a baby's cry coming out of the trash can. She had no clue that it was her son's gf's baby. The girl got arrested on Tuesday. Jose was by there that day and he was wondering why there were so many cop cars, ambulance, fire dept., etc. Here's the full story, there's a news clip there too.
Then, I was reading Yajaira's blog and she had mentioned of 2 stories. One of a woman that got pulled over for DUI and her kids were in the back seat full of cockroaches, feces, urine, open containers of food. She's a nurse too. Here's that story. And a couple that were so obsessed with playing video games that they neglected their children. One of the children was a 11-month old baby girl that weighed 10 lbs!!! You can read that here. Wow, this is all very sad. Why even have children if you're going to treat them like this? There are tons of families out there that would love to adopt these kids. I swear, some people......
Update: I forgot to mention that we got our Jeep back this same day. And it's running beautifully!! I can't believe we were without it for 9 days. Thank goodness for our Honda (which by the way, has never given us any problems).

I'm One Loved Gal!!
I feel so loved
My husband has been at the academy yesterday and all day today. So he went to the little gift shop there and got me that cute visor. I love it. And my mom ha sent me some stuff, so my good friend (ex-coworker) put some cute notepads and some of their pens that they sell at the store I used to work at, in the package. I just kept taking notepad after notepad out of the bag. They're so cute. Some of them have magnets in the back of them, good....cuz the one I use for our shopping list is kinda ugly.
Ok, I just had to share
Alrighty, off to pay the bills, ya...they love me too....

Woohooo!!!
OMG, I'm sooooo happy! My final grade for the hardest class I have ever taken, Oceanography, is a B!!!! I got an 'A' on my essay paper and I did good on the final tests too. Wooohoooo!! The reason why this is such a big deal to me is because I thought for sure, I was going to get a 'C' (I have nothing but 'A's and 'B's on my transcript). So I just had to share!

*Sigh*....Just Another Entry....
Ok, I decided to update with a new entry because that previous post gets me depressed everytime I look at it....
Thanks everybody for your comments on that. And no, unfortunately it would cost us more to get another car. Probably get a used car but you take such a big risk with getting a used car. Our car payment for the Jeep is cheap already, $190/month. And considering that it should be running like new after this, I think it's worth paying for. It just hurts to pay that much. Whenever you talk about transmission problems, you know it's going to be very expensive (especially REPLACING IT!) Like I said, there are people out there really going through some hardships and real problems, so I shouldn't complain. Anyways....
Jose has the next 3 days off....yay! Poor guy, he has been working so much overtime lately. Right now, he's sleeping on this futon we have because our room is so hot during the day. It's funny how he falls asleep with his glasses on.....
I always have to take them off while he's sleeping and he doesn't even feel me.
BTW, I wanted to let some of you know that the comments got moved to the top of the entries (next to the weather). I know some people are not seeing them. Ok, have a great weekend!!

Damn Car Expenses
I don't like Mexican Banda music at all, EXCEPT for this group- "Grupo Limite". I just got this cd, I had it back in 1996 but I lost it at my mom's house. The girl, Alicia Villareal, has a great voice (since then, she's gone solo) and the beats to their songs are very catchy.
Well, the same day I posted my last entry, Jose called me on his way home and he said that the Jeep Cherokee was acting weird. When he would accelerate, it would like stall and just sit there and a few seconds into it, it would go. So we took it into our mechanic. It turns out it will need a complete transmission overhaul.......$2100.....not counting some other stuff that needs to be done to it, making it close to 3 GRAND. *Sigh* I told Jose that we will pay if this is what has been giving the Jeep trouble. Our mechanic says that it should be running like new after this. What can we do. It has to be done, not worth crying about. There's people out there with way worse problems....

My New Class....Human Sexuality
Aww man, Jose had today off. And he got a phone call from his partner saying that he actually had court today, and his partner covered for him and said that he was asleep at the station....
Jose has his subpoenas but he says that this one wasn't among them. So that's weird. So he should be back in a few hours. Plus, it's overtime, but still. *sigh*
Yesterday, I attended my Human Sexuality orientation (it was mandotory, or else you're dropped). It was very interesting. Can you believe there were more people that needed to add than were actually there and registered. There were like 100 people there. Almost every name she called out, the person was not there, so that left room for another person to add. By the end, she ended up adding all 40 or so people. Why even register for the class, if you're not even going to be there? The orientation had started at 6 and a lot of people kept coming in late, all the way till like 7:15! I guess some people just don't care. This class looks like it's a lot of work, but at least it's an interesting subject, unlike a certain Oceanography class I had. That class is going to make the rest of my classes look like cake!

New 7 Wonders of the World/Timely Thank-You Notes
They've announced that Peru's Machu Picchu is among the new Seven Wonders of the World. Yay!! Isn't it beautiful? My sister took that picture when she was over there this past year. Last time I was in Peru was in 1985, I was 9. I want to and will go back, though. I have never been to Machu Picchu though, I definitely want to go.
I have been completely hooked on this site Etiquette Hell. I'll be on there for hours reading of these horror stories of tacky wedding etiquette, baby-shower, etc. Which reminds me....we still haven't gotten a thank-you note from my BIL and his wife. I'm sorry, but I am a stickler for thank-you notes. We got them over $300 worth of gifts and we traveled to practically the other end of the world (an uncomfortable and tiring 8-hour drive). Aaand, got lost when we got there. The price of the hotel room where the wedding was at wasn't cheap either. Like $200. I just think it's tacky not writing a thank-you note after your wedding. I remember I was right on that, as soon as we got bck from Vegas.
Yesterday, at 1pm, there was an accident here in our street and a line or something was knocked out. We had no power for 3 hours and it was horrible. It was hot and I was miserable. 3 longest hours of my life.
So my 'C' is gone from my Oceanography class and I guess he hasn't graded anything yet. Still hoping for that 'B'. Thank you, everybody, for the compliments on the new look!
Update: I moved the comments to the top of the post entries (next to the weather).

New Blog Look
Hi all! I went and changed the blog's look. I saw that french cartoon doll and thought she was adorable. I liked the colors on her. But if anyone happens to know who originally drew her, please let me know. I want to give them proper credit. I've already looked through many pinup cartoon doll sites and couldn't find her.
Anyways, I'm happy to report that I'm done with my classes.....till Monday. On Monday evening, I have to go a mandatory orientation for my Human Sexuality class. I got an 'A' for Music Appreciation and right now it shows that I got a 'C' in my Oceanography class. But the final has not been graded yet, and I don't see a grade for my essay. So I have no idea where those extra 143 points came from, he put the grand total of points possible to get, so that's why my grade is at a 'C' instead of a 'B'....I hope. *gulp* Believe me, I'll be checking all day. Ok, I'm not gonna let this potential (FIRST) 'C' get to me. At least I passed the class, that's all that counts.....ugghh.

4th of July/The Transformers
Happy 4th of July, everyone~! We're going to a bbq at Jose's aunt and uncle's house. Have some carne asada.....mmmm
We went to go see "Transformers" yesterday and wow....I was very impressed by the special effects! They did a great job! But towards the end, the AC in the theatre was blasting and I was freezing my butt off....plus, I had a headache. So I was getting a little restless towards the end. But it was a good movie, I recommend it. Afterwards, we went to Staples to pick up a black ink cartridge and then we went to Red Robbin to get something to eat. Jose's cop friend and his friend joined us. It's so nice because all these places are all in the same shopping center. We live within 2 minutes of everything. Love it. Ok, everybody have a safe and happy 4th of July!!!

Nice Little Surprise
So what are everyone's plans for 4th of July? I'm not sure what were going to do yet. Jose has it off, so we might decide on something at the last minute. He normally gets paid every 2 Wednesdays. So it was a nice surprise to check the bank account and see that he had already gotten paid!! Yay.....I guess since tomorrow is a holiday. So that was nice to see. 2 more days for the Oceanography class to end. I have my final essay pretty much done. I'm a little scared to take the actual final, though. I don't do well with finals, and he's going to be testing us on math forumlas that we need to know. *sigh* great. We might go see "The Transformers" today. I'm hungry, ok, talk to you all later!!!

I Hate Oceanography!!!
Hi everyone!! Thank you for your well-wishes on my schoolwork. I'm right now taking a quick break from writing my paper. I did good on all the quizzes, but I could have done better in the actual test. I got a freakin 'C'!!
And this paper turned out to be a lot harder to write than I thought.....*sigh* I have till tonight to turn it in and it's only the rough draft. The final draft is do the last day of class which is this Thursday....woohooo!!!
I really am stressing over this stupid Oceanography class, though. I can honestly say it's the hardest class I have ever taken. I have to get at least a 'B' in this class. Right now I have like an 80-81% in the class. So I have to do good in this paper and final. Ok, off to get a drink of water and continue on this stupid thing. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
