I'M STILL ALIVE....
Yes, I'm still here. I've just been enjoying my month off before I head off to summer classes (which starts tomorrow, btw). The heat has been unbearable these past couple of days. Jose and I hate the heat and we don't honestly understand how people can like this can of weather....ugghh.
Well, I can't remember everything that I've done since the 6th but we had a great Father's Day at Jose's family house. They had a bbq and pool party and we were able to take Minnie. She had a blast!! She was running around in the yard behind the children (I think she secretely thinks she's a kid...lol) and she even took a swim in the pool!!
We closed our savings account at BofA and went over to Wachovia Bank. We opened up a checking and savings account. As soon as Jose's direct deposit takes effect into the new account, I'm calling the rest of the companies that automatically debit payments from our checking account. Then it's bye-bye, BofA!! I can't wait, seriously.
Yesterday was Minnie's 1st birthday. We got her a little dog cake, a little dress and a crown. It was really cute. Some pictures are below.

BANK OF AMERICA ARE A BUNCH OF THIEVES!!!!!
I took out a line of credit with them. We agreed on a 15.99% APR (ya, I know that's high, but at the time it was my fault because I had been late on 1 payment and that's the best they can do for me). Nicely, it hasn't affected my credit score, I have a high 700 (Excellent). Well, I got my last bill and it showed 25.45%. When I called them, they're all, "Oh, you still have the 15.99% but the 25.45% is a weighed amount." And then she went through some mumbo jumbo of what that meant.
I hung up with them and I did the math of what my finance charge would have been with a 15.99% and what it would have been with a 25.45%. Well, what do you know? The amount that I came up with the 25.45% was exactly what they charged me! I called them back and told them that I did the math and the amount I'm coming up with is with the 25.45%
They're all, "How did you do math?" I told them I:
GoT the balance, multiplied it by 15.99% or 25.45%. Came up with the total and divided by 12 months (to get the monthly finance charge).
They're all ,"Thats not how its calculated. We do this:
APR divide by 100
divide by 365
divide days of billing cycle
multiply by term
multiply by total amount borrowed.
That's exactly what they said because I wrote it down. That's fuckin ridiculous!!! I did the math for the rest of my credit cards and they just calculate the simple way I did. Our finance charge is MORE than our minimum payment, so if anything our balance is not going down and adding $30 more dollars.
UGHHHH, ITS MAKING MAD ALL OVER AGAIN THINKING ABOUT IT!! So what I did yesterday is I took out $5000 out of it and did a balance transfer to a 2.99% card. And will continue to do that till the balance is gone.
On a happier note, I got my official acceptance letter from CSUF
. I knew I was admitted already (since I've been staying updated through the student portal on the site) but it's nice to see it in an official letter. Woohoo!!
Dear Sylvia,
Congratulations! You have been admitted to California State University, Fullerton for the Fall 2008 semester. On behalf of the University, I want to extend you a warm welcome to the Cal State Fullerton academic community. All segments of our community are please that you have selected the University as the place where you will pursue your academic career.........
After the mess with BofA, this definitley made my day better. The school is less than 5 miles away from where I live....so that's nice. It's a beautiful campus too. I feel that finally my hard work has paid off.

SCHOLARSHIP POINTS/ GRADES ARE IN!!
I found this really cool site called Scholarship Points. Basically, they give you many fun and creative ways (such as taking surveys, adding them on myspace, pop trivia, etc.) to win various amounts of points. Then you go ahead and exchange your points for entries to win scholarships. Every month there is a $1,000 scholarship. And in October there is a $10,000 scholarship!!! I've already accumulated almost 400 points and have spread them out throughout the months and put most of it for the October one, so wish me luck!!
One more thing, I'm going to be applying for a Stafford Federal Student Loan for CSUF. Because Jose brings home a decent paycheck, we only qualify for unsubsidized student loan (not based on financial need), meaning that we will accrue interest the whole time, compared to the subsidized (based on financial need) that they don't pay interest till the end. This is such a great federal program because you don't have to start paying till 6 months after you graduate or if you go under half-time. Right now, the interest for all lenders is 6.8%, so that's not bad. So I'm just waiting for the school to put up the info so I can pick my lender and accept the loan already.
Finally, got my grade and grade card for Research Methods. I got an 'A' and 100% for my second research paper.....yay!!! Not bad for starting it the day before and finishing at 3am....
So these are my grades for Spring 2008:
Human Biology: A
Human Biology Lab: B
Child Psychology: A
Research Methods: A
Speech: B
So I'm happy, it was my hardest semester to date.
Have a good Wednesday, all!!!

*SIGH*
Ok, just like I knew would happen, my Research Methods teacher is completely lagging in posting our final grades up. I have all my grades posted except for that class. I need all my grades posted in so I can forward my transcript to CSUF and to apply for summer graduation. On the last day of class, I gave him a grade card so he can mail back to me with my research paper grade and my class grade. What do I bet that I won't even get that back? I worked my ass off on that paper and I definitley want to know what I got. Uggh.....
I got officially admitted into CSUF btw, after I forwarded my Speech class grade card. Those are one of those classes that are called the "Golden 4" (College Writing, Quantitative Math, Speech, Read) that they wanted to see that I completed by Spring. As soon as I forwarded my last "Golden 4" class (which was Speech), it automatically said I was admitted....so yay!! So ya, I'll just be here waiting for my last grade. It better be soon, I have a deadline to meet for graduation.
Jose and I went to go see "Ironman" a few days ago. It was REALLY good. Of course, I had heard nothing but good things about that movie. Great graphics and storyline. I highly recommend.
Ok all, enjoy the rest of the weekend.
